My product is installed. What steps should I take to get started?

See below for our recommended steps after your installation has been completed.


Security Recommendations

 

Step 1: Change the default local admin password

  1. Login to your site with the default username (admin) and password (free-dcim).
  2. Navigate to the Administration Tab
  3. Under User Accounts, select the Manage button.
  4. Under the Action Heading, select Edit.
  5. Click the Change Password link under Password.
  6. Enter a new password and confirm. Click Save Changes.
 

Step 2: Change the default database password

  1. Login to your SQL Server with administrative (sa) rights.
  2. Navigate to Security, then Logins.
  3. Right click on the account named web and choose Properties.
  4. Enter a new password and confirm. Click OK.
  5. Access your local FREE-DCIM instance by typing http://url.yourdomain.com/setup.
  6. Enter the Server/Instance Name, Username (web), and Password (set in step 4 above). Click Submit Request.
 

Step 3: Obtain a SSL Certificate for your website

  1. If you have a on-site Certificate Authority, request a new certificate for IIS.
  2. If you do not have an on-site Certificate Authority, you can obtain a FREE one from Let's Encrypt.
 

Step 4: Create user accounts

  1. Create accounts for your users. Define who needs access and grant permissions to only those areas in which those users need access to.
